Digital photography has become very popular and more people are now looking for quality cameras. One camera release that drew attention from consumers was the Canon EOS 550D. This digital camera has two different names, depending on where you live. In Japan, it’s called the Canon Kiss X4, while in North America, it’s known as the EOS Rebel T2i. It is the evolution of the Canon Rebel T1i, or the Kiss X3. The Kiss X4 is filled with updated improvements like movie recording ability, higher resolution, and image processing technology. Many say this is much better than its predecessor.

Highlights of the Canon Kiss X4

Anyone who purchases the Canon Kiss X4 will be impressed by the 18 megapixel sensor, which is a metal-oxide semiconductor that’s wrapped in a polycarbonate resin and stainless steel. The body is strong fiberglass. The camera has an APS-C compact that’s 14.9mm high by 22.3mm wide CMOS.

The camera uses a DIGIC 3 image processing engine. It features a full HD movie recording capability, capturing video at 24, 25, or 30 frames per second, as well as a three-inch color LCD monitor that features 1.04 million dots. Even better, people appreciate the camera’s ability to use any EF-S or EF line of lenses.

“Whether you’re new to the world of DSLRs, or are a seasoned photographer who wants to try your luck at video, the Canon Rebel T2i is perfect. I’ve had nothing but great experiences with it so far and highly recommend to everyone.”

The largest size being recorded will measure around 3456 pixels high and 5184 pixels wide. It features three autofocus modes, a nine-point autofocus map, and offers manual focus.

Metering Differences

The Canon Kiss X4 showcases a 63-zone TTL metering system, which means through the lens. There’s an EV range of exposure values encompassing everything from 1.0 to 20:0. There are four metering modes on the camera, including the partial metering that goes up to 9% through the frame’s center, 63-zone that measures autofocus points, center weighed that averages out the center’s values in the frame, and spot metering that will measure 4% of the frame’s center.

Why the Canon Kiss X4?

The main place to order the Kiss X4 is in Japan or elsewhere in Asia. This is where the region in which Canon camera markets this specific branding. While it is possible to purchase the same brand name through certain retailers in North America, it’s just as easy to purchase the same model, the T2i. They are the same camera, just marketed to different domestic markets. The main difference is that the export version comes in Japanese and English and the Kiss X4 support would be based exclusively out of Japan. Both the Kiss X4 and the Rebel T2i are made in Japan.
